HAPPY FEBRUARY!!!

The second month of 2014 began as a wonderful weekend!

Maybe that’s a sign that February will be just as great as January, maybe even better.

To help make this new month another month of daily celebrations I’ve thought of new reasons to make each day feel extra special:

*Make-up Monday:  I’m using the word “make-up” very carefully because I don’t use a lot of the stuff, but I will share the beauty items I do use.

*Top Ten Tuesday:  Each week I will share some of my top ten lists that will countdown a number of random & fun things.

*Wear It Wednesday:  Some of my favorite fashion & beauty items will be highlighted each Wednesday.

*Thirsty Thursday:  I will create fun & easy family friendly concoctions.

*Friday For The Fellas:  As I promised in a previous blog post, I will share some of my favorite fashion and grooming items designed for the gents.

*Wondrous Weekends: Weekends are soooooo awesome!  Whether I am staying home or running the streets, I enjoy every minute of my Saturday & Sunday. I always make each weekend minute worthwhile, so who knows what kind of activities I will pull out of my hat during those two fun days…poetry, fashion, crafting, celebrating, festival hopping, shopping...

I just purchased this cute pink steering wheel cover for Miss Browne after
taking her to the car wash for a little “after snow” pampering.

Join me as I celebrate all 28 days of this beautiful month!

SPLURGEDAY THURSDAY - YOU DESERVE IT!

I love the fact that I can escape my cubical prison for 60 minutes during lunch and lavish myself with a rewarding little treasure.

Dare I say I deserve it?  Yes, I dare say that I do!

Here’s this week’s splurge from Body Central & it only cost $3.90.

Here are the top 5 reasons why every woman deserves the right to participate in Splurgeday Thursday (this is just five out of a million):

1.    MORNINGS.  I am a night owl & not a morning hen.    The fact that I can leave the house in my zombie state each morning, yet successfully function as a responsible human being at work is an act deserving of some sort of award.  No Oscars available?  I’ll settle for a pair of platform pumps.

2.    CUBE NANTS.  Nant is a word I invented.  It’s short for ignorant.  I use it playfully with the ones I love…for example, “Y’all some crazy nants”, but there are some real nants out there and some of them reside in office cubicles. You know some of them.  The Vicious Gossiping Nant. The Sneak Snakey Nant. The Joy Sucking Nant.  If you can survive at least 2 ½ days out of the week without letting Cube Nants drag you into their nasty Nantdom, you should treat yourself to something nice.  It can be a bottle of strawberry lotion from the dollar tree or a pair of wine glasses from Pier One.  This stuff serves as fumigation to Cube Nants.

3.    HORMONES.  Yes, I know men are also capable of acting all moody and emotional.  We just handle our hormonal fits differently:

Women are:

*Strong enough to have our  fit

*Humble enough to admit to having a fit

*Brave enough to reverse the fit

*Smart enough to learn from the cause of the fit.

Men:

*Fear the fit

*Have the fit

*Deny the fit
There are stores and tiny little specialty shops that sell sweet smelling candles that are made to celebrate our victories over the fit.

4.    WE SMILE.  Some of us are not fortunate enough to have a job that allows us to divulge in our true passions and talents, yet we show our appreciation for the job we are blessed to have by flashing a genuine grin at least 80% of the day. Whether it’s a smile on our face or a smile in our voice.  Whether its a smiley face in an Instant Message, e-mail message or text message.  Treat yourself to a tube of lip gloss.  It can make that smile a bit shinier.

5.  WE WORK HARD!

Alright Ladies!  It’s your turn. Celebrate yourself & let me know how you did it in the comments section below.

***Fellas, you deserve a treat too.  I will have something special for you in my blog entries each week in February!!!

SPLURGEDAY THURSDAY - MANGO N' OIL

Ahhh, Mango…how I love your scent!

For the second week in a row, my splurge has been inspired by this little odd looking fruit.

Today, I treated myself to this small tube of Coco Mango fragrance oil.

I will have to use this sparingly; it has a very strong, mango-y scent.  I don’t want to risk causing my cubical and entire office to smell like…well… a really powerful smelling mango.

Even though I’m in desperate need of some Victoria Secret’s Mango Temptation Spray Mist (I have about seven sprays left –take a look at my sad, empty bottle below),  I decided to take the less expensive route and purchase my oil at Orange Beauty supply Store for just two bucks.

Don’t worry…I’ll be visiting Miss Victoria soon enough!

I haven’t used fragrant oils in about 20 years and I will tell you why….

***WARNING***

THE FOLLOWING PASSAGE MAY CONTAIN SOME MATERIAL THAT MAY BE DISTURBING TO SOME.

READER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.
One unfortunate Spring day, I was suffering from seasonal allergies. After touching my neck, which was slightly covered with fragrant oil, I tried to rub the irritating pollen out of my eye, which resulted in me rubbing oil into my eye.  The oil caused the white part of my eye to turn beet red and swell to the size of an  medium sized olive.  My poor brown eyeball looked as if it were being swallowed by my eye white.  Oh…and by the way…all of this grossness took place while I was at work…serving hotdogs and milkshakes… as a waitress!

Lesson Learned!!!  I promise to enjoy my Coco Mango oil responsibly.
…And in the words of Tom and Donna from the awesome TV show, Parks and Recreation,
“Treat Yo Self”.

TUESDAY SHOESDAY

BEAUTIFUL PARIAH©
By Rose V. Smith

My passion for three & a quarter inch platform Stilettos
Does not reflect a desire to tip toe past foes
Who bitterly mutter blatant contempt as I Sashay by…
It simply reflects my desire to Sashay.
Steve Madden, Jessica Simpson, and even my dream shoe Christian Louboutin .  They all make me feel quite gitty inside.  Y’all know the feeling! You step into the shoe store, knowing that you intend to leave with a pair of beautiful , Scarpas, Chaussures, Zapatos

You scan the displays…slip on a few pair…saunter around the store…staring at your feet’s reflection.
Once you’ve made your decision, you place the box on the counter, watch as the register calculates surprising discounts (“…oh, and you also receive a 30% Spring-Fling discount today”).  At this point I’m usually bouncing on my tip-toes.
When you reach your car, you know you should use good judgment and place your bag in the trunk of your car, but you place the bag in the front seat, so that you can peep into the bag at each red light.
Hmmph!!!  Don’t judge!  My fellow shoe lovers (guys and girls) understand!
Well, when I purchase this pair of sparkly black Deréon shoes during my lunch break more than a year ago, I experienced the same scenario above.

Let me know what you think about these cuties in the comments box below.

SPLURGEDAY THURSDAY

Happy Spurgeday Thursday Y'all!

I’ve decided that instead of mourning the end of the holiday season, I would turn each weekday into my own personal holiday.

Observe:

*  Mocha Monday:  I love Mocha.  I will enjoy a cup of mocha from a different location each Monday…home, Starbucks, McDonalds, Panera, Taza, Sugar Shack…

*  Shoesday Tuesday:  I will highlight a beautiful pair of shoes each week. These shoes will either be a pair from my collection or my wish list.

*  Wow’em Wednesday:  Dinner can get pretty mundane during the week sometimes.  I will try a new or exciting recipe every Wednesday & try to Wow my family.

*  Splurgeday Thursday:  I am the original broke girl and Thursdays are usually my "brokest" day of the week. That shouldn’t keep me from treating myself to something cute though. Right? Yes!!!! Watch as I purchase a treat.  These treats will have a prices range from .25 cent to, well, whatever I can afford that week.

*  First Time Friday:  I’m a sucker for trying something new, as long as it’s fun or delicious.  I will try something new every Friday.

On the weekends, I’ll just go Freestyle.

Well, like I said, today is Splurgeday Thursday, Y’all!

Today’s splurge is this beautiful Mainstay Peach & Mango three wick candle from Walmart & it only cost me a penny pinching $3.00.  I haven’t had a chance to burn it yet & I can’t wait.  It smells delicious without even lighting it.

Treat yourself to something nice…go on & Splurge!
