CHRONICLES OF A BLOOMING URBANISTA - REVAMPED BLOGAZINE

I love my city, Richmond Virginia (RVA)!

I wanted to share the love I have for this blossoming city through Eclectic Bouquet.  I have revamped my blog so that I can share the wonderful RVA people, places and events that I have the chance to experience.

My new “blogazine” will now include a new topic every week of each month:

·         Week 1: Passioneers 12 – This post will include an interview of passionate entrepreneurs in RVA.  I will ask them 12 questions that will allow us to explore the root of their passions.
My daughter, Jessica will be one of the featured Passioneers
interviewed within the next few months.  Her artwork is on display
@ Taza on Forest Hill Avenue in RVA.

·         Week 2: Where To Go – where can I get a plate of delicious soul food in RVA? Does anyone sell nice, inexpensive antiques?  These questions (and more) will be answered in these posts.
RVA's beautiul James River is behind me!

 ·                   Week 3: Style – I will post a pict of my favorite style piece of the month, clothing, jewelry,  shoes, makeup…

·         Week 4:  What To Do – Festivals, Fiestas, Fun!
These refreshments were served at one of Richmond's
poetry events,
which will be featured soon!

Please join me as I explore RVA! My first post will be up on this week!

FAREWELL TO FALLING BACK

This was my view  as I walked to my car on the way from work, two days before the  first day of Daylight’s Saving Time.

I hope you enjoy my poem "Fall Back" below. Oh how reminiscent I am when we have to "fall back" at the end of Daylight Saving Time during the Fall!
I'm going to enjoy every minute of Spring, Summer and Daylight Saving Time's visit with us!

FALL BACK©
BY ROSE V SMITH

MAY 3, 2013

On those days in late November

When the trees are all but timber

That’s the time when you’ll remember

When it was light out here

My quick-slow pace to my dear car

Reminds me of my morning’s start

Eight hours ago seems oh so far

When it was light out here

Dark clouds hang below dark sky

The twilight taunts my weary eyes

Cold winds whisper of warm nights gone by

When it was light out here

“Turn back your clock” the news guy said

One extra hour in my bed

Where summer night’s dreams will fill my head

When it was light out here

SUNDAY'S POETRY

Why do I still have this conformed old shoe?  Two words:  Borderline Hoarder!
CONFORMED©
By Rose V. Smith
Don’t let this be you
A conformed old shoe
No life of its own
Roams where the feet roams
Smells like the feet smells
Swells when the feet swells
Shaped like the feet’s shape
Can’t determine its own fate
The foot will walk for miles
Re-determining the shoe’s style
Yet when the shoe mirror the foot
The hands will toss it for a new boot.

TUESDAY SHOESDAY

BEAUTIFUL PARIAH©
By Rose V. Smith

My passion for three & a quarter inch platform Stilettos
Does not reflect a desire to tip toe past foes
Who bitterly mutter blatant contempt as I Sashay by…
It simply reflects my desire to Sashay.
Steve Madden, Jessica Simpson, and even my dream shoe Christian Louboutin .  They all make me feel quite gitty inside.  Y’all know the feeling! You step into the shoe store, knowing that you intend to leave with a pair of beautiful , Scarpas, Chaussures, Zapatos

You scan the displays…slip on a few pair…saunter around the store…staring at your feet’s reflection.
Once you’ve made your decision, you place the box on the counter, watch as the register calculates surprising discounts (“…oh, and you also receive a 30% Spring-Fling discount today”).  At this point I’m usually bouncing on my tip-toes.
When you reach your car, you know you should use good judgment and place your bag in the trunk of your car, but you place the bag in the front seat, so that you can peep into the bag at each red light.
Hmmph!!!  Don’t judge!  My fellow shoe lovers (guys and girls) understand!
Well, when I purchase this pair of sparkly black Deréon shoes during my lunch break more than a year ago, I experienced the same scenario above.

Let me know what you think about these cuties in the comments box below.
